In 2014 Wilsons stardom exploded across the pond with greater prominence when she agreed to star on Showtimes The Affair as Alison Lockhart a troubled young woman who has a past of dark who gets involved with an unmarried man called Noah Solloway. Wilson was awarded an award in the form of a Golden Globe in 2015 for Best Actress, Television Series Drama. The series also starred Maura Terney as well as Joshua Jackson. Wilson stated to British Vogue that she loved playing a character in both perspective. Noah imagines Alison's sexy, confident, irresponsible sexy side. Yet she views herself differently, as someone who is unassuming and pretentious on the inside. The actress said "I believe that America is a moral society and so critical. The way they conduct themselves in the show appears shocking." Wilson has since left the show in shock for the fans. But Wilson spoke in a very vague manner about the specifics. It was my intention to quit, however I'm not permitted to discuss the reasons why she said so during a CBS This Morning interview in August of 2018. Wilson is now focusing on film. Wilson starred in the thriller horror I Am the Pretty Thing Living in the Home in 2016. She also portrayed the mysterious PT Stella as the Sci-Fi romantic comedy How to Talk to Girls at Parties. To add to her horror credits Wilson will be a part in the British movie version to The Little Stranger. The supernatural thriller is based on the Sarah Waters' novel. Wilson is the executive producer of the film.
